This FAQ describes step by step how to add a link to a web page when writing an article for the nabo.org.uk website. Please follow the instructions carefully. This will save you time in the long run.
-
Type the text you want to add the hyperlink to. e.g. web page
-
Mark the text e.g. web page
-
Click on the "Insert a Link" icon:
-
You can either:
-
Type the web address you want to link to in the URL box
-
or easier, and less liable to be inaccurate through mistyping:
-
Open a new tab or window in your browser
-
Load the web page you want to link to.
-
Mark and COPY the web page address onto your clipboard
-
Click in the URL Box and PASTE the web address into the URL Box.
(Don’t worry that it automatically strips the "http://" from the beginning – it will still include it!)
-
-
-
Select the "Target" tab.
-
Click on "not set"
and select “New Window (_blank)” from the dropdown menu. -
Hopefully, you have done it, so click “OK”. The text you marked in step 2 will now have a hyperlink attached to it, so readers wil be able to click on the link and open a new tab or window with your chosen page.
