NABO have responded to the CRT consultation on Houseboat Certificates. This closed at the end of September and we now await the outcome.
CRT make changes to Licence Terms and Conditions
CRT have issued revised Terms and Conditions for boat licences. Most of the changes are related to the name change from BW to CRT, but there are other changes.
BSS propose changes to the checking procedures for private boats
The BSS has just completed a periodic review of the Examination Checking Procedures (2005), and boaters have an opportunity to view the proposed changes to these which apply to privately owned and privately managed boats.
BSS issue warning over leaking weed hatches
BSS have issued a warning over leaking weed hatches, following a number of recent sinkings. Owners of boats with weed hatches are being reminded by the Boat Safety Scheme to make a routine of checking the security of weed hatch covers.
NABO Chairman selected for the CRT Navigation Advisory Group
David Fletcher, the current NABO Chairman has been selected to join the new Navigation Advisory Group. This group replaces the old WUSIG and BWAF committees that provided advice to BW on boating and other strategic issues.

The father of a two-year-old boy who died after being found in the Northampton Arm has said more needs to be done to prevent other deaths.
CRT Trustees provide an update on progress
CRT Trustees have published an update on progress. Of course the first message is to report the launch of the charity in July 2012. But then comes the part about executive pay.
Launch day for the CRT
CRT has today, 12 July 2012, held launch events in all the regions to mark the beginnings of a new era for the canals and rivers previously owned by British Waterways.
Parliament agrees the CRT legislation
Parliament formally agreed the legislation for the transfer of functions of BW to the CRT and to abolish the IWAAC on 27 June 2012.
