Arts Council England and the Canal & River Trust have agreed to implement a shared approach to engaging with the contemporary arts for the benefit of the waterways network, users and the artistic community. 

Arts Council England has published a Memorandum of Understanding between ACE and CRT: Canal & River Trust (see PDF document here). They have similar agreements with Forestry Commission England and the National Trust.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, CRT do not appear to have publicised this yet. Stephen Peters, NABO candidate for CRT Council, said, "It does strike me as rather odd that in its first few days of legal existence the CRT enters into an agreement with what appears to be a totally irrelevant body given the multitude of other problems it will face and before it is really clear how it will work. Maybe some publicity is required?"
