River Thames Lock Closures: 2015 – 2016

The Environment Agency is investing more than £1 million this autumn and winter as part of a programme of works to maintain and replace navigation structures on the River Thames. The investment is needed to maintain the River Thames as a reliable navigation for boaters and all visitors to enjoy safely. Listed below are the locks that will be closed during the 2015 to 2016 investment programme.

The locks will be closed from the first date listed and will re-open on the day after the final date. 

St John's Lock            2 November 2015 to 4 March 2016           
                                   Re-sheeting the head lock gates 
                                   and repairing the tail lock gates

Godstow Lock             2 November 2015 to 4 March 2016                  
                                   Re-sheeting the lock gates

Culham Lock              2 November 2015 to 4 March 2016                                  
                                   Refurbishing the lock chamber

Day's Lock                  4 January 2016 to 26 February 2016                               
                                   Minor repairs to the lock chamber

Temple Lock               2 November 2015 to 26 February 2016                                
                                   Refurbishing the lock chamber

Cookham Lock            2 November 2015 to 18 December 2015                                     
                                   Replacing lock gate control system

Boulters Lock              2 November 2015 to 18 December 2015                                
                                   Re-sheeting the tail lock gates

Penton Hook Lock      11 January 2016 to 4 March 2016
                                   Repairing the tail lock gates pintle
